About the Craft Beer Festival
The Mundelein Craft Beer Festival is one of the best small beer festivals in the region, often considered a "brewer's beer festival" thanks to Tighthead Brewery's great reputation and organizational involvement. The first festival was held in June 2012 in the parking lot of Tighthead Brewery, Mundelein's first craft brewery.

The festival features:
- 40 diverse craft brewers from throughout the Chicagoland area
- Live entertainment with two bands featured each year
- Local restaurants and food trucks on-site
- Covered outdoor seating for comfort
- Bag games for entertainment
- Home-brewers tent showcasing local brewing talent
Festival History
Tighthead Brewery opened in 2011 by local residents Bruce and Molly Dir at 161 Archer Street. After a year in business, Bruce approached the Mundelein Community Connection Board of Directors about organizing a Craft Beer Festival as a fundraiser for MCC, promote the Brewery, and add a new event to Mundelein's growing calendar of summer recreation options.
The event was moved from the brewery parking lot to Courtland Commons after two years of growing success, providing a more comfortable setting for visitors. Brewery participation is limited to 40 vendors and maximum visitor occupancy to 2,000.
Community Partnership
MCC is proud to work with Bruce and the Staff of Tighthead and for the support received from the Village of Mundelein. The Mundelein Craft Beer Festival is an excellent example of business, local government, and a non-profit, volunteer-based organization working together to add value to the community.

The festival features up to 40 craft breweries from across the Chicagoland area. The 2026 brewery lineup will be announced as the event approaches.
