About the Annual Awards Dinner
Each year in February, the Mundelein Community Connection Board hosts its Annual Awards Dinner for members, volunteers, and sponsors. This special evening gathering serves to thank those who have supported the organization in the prior year, honor individuals and organizations that deserve special recognition, and swear-in the Board of Directors for the upcoming year.
For most of MCC's history, the Annual Awards Dinner has been held at Dover Straits Restaurant in Libertyville.
Awards Presented
Three prestigious awards are presented each year, each named in honor of a Mundelein resident who served the community selflessly with great distinction:
Debbie Mullen Volunteer of the Year Award
Named in honor of Debbie Mullen, owner of Debbie's Floral, who was a Past President and member of the original steering committee. This award acknowledges the efforts of special individuals who reflect Debbie's spirit of volunteerism.

Leland "Trig" Watson, Jr. Business of the Year Award
Named in honor of Leland "Trig" Watson, Jr. of the Historical Society of Fort Hill Country, who was instrumental in historic preservation. This award recognizes a business that reflects Trig's spirit of volunteerism and dedication to the organization.

Dr. Chester Ciecko Organization of the Year Award
Named in honor of Dr. Chester Ciecko, a dedicated community servant and past president of the Mundelein Lions Club who received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for Humanitarian Services. This award acknowledges a special organization that has been an inspiration to others and the community.
